Artist Bio

Jim was born and reared in Indiana,

came to South Georgia to study at Valdosta

State where he played baseball and was

President of Student Government. Jim later

settled in North Florida. Jim has been

fortunate to travel around the US, Canada

and Mexico. With a camera always in hand.

From an early age, Jim has expressed an interest in art. The older he got the more he would experiment with a variety of mediums and styles, But he never took art real serious while enjoying the ability to draw or paint to help or please others, most work was given as special gifts etc.

In early 2009 as the Real Estate market had a decline, the Home Inspector found he had more time on his hands than he liked. A friend urged him to do more painting. It was then he developed a love for watercolors, one of the most demanding mediums to master, The challenge is what makes it most interesting, and Jim became serious about painting.

He soon joined the Suwannee Valley Plein Air Painters and began meeting regularly with some of the best artist in North Florida. Jim is also been a member of: Art league of North Florida, Cedar Key Art Center, and High springs Art Gallery.

Jim paintings have hung at the Columbia County Main Library and West Branch Library, Gateway College President's Office, Haven Hospice, Cedar Key Art Center, and Levy County Courthouse, and Turner center for the Arts in Valdosta, Ga. Jim's work is hanging in a number of business and private collections.

In 2000 Jim's poster for th Cedar Key Art Festival

was the runner up, In 2014

Jim entry to the 2014 Jekyll Island Shrimp and

Grits Festival Poster contest was chosen one

of the top 5 entry.

Jim still paints in his studio, but he much prefers nature's studio. It is there

that God shows his Grace and Love for all to see. Jim feels as an artist his greatest challenge is to replicate God's creations the best he can, so we can share God's grace and beauty with others.

*As for talent, Jim gives God all the Praise and Glory. And you can often hear him saying, "I'm not as Good as I want to be . . . .

but I know with God's help . . . Am not as good as I'm going to be.
